200-009 Fire Service 10 Minute Timer Effective Date: 4/28/10 Reference: September 21st, 2011 to start the timer as soon as the report for one of the below named events is received by the Cortland County 911 Center. Next Review: Modified Date: 4/23/2025 CLASSIFICATION: POLICY STATEMENT Issued By: Rich Roberts, County Chiefs President Scott Roman, Fire Coordinator Preface: This policy is derived from the National Fire Protection Association Standard 1500, Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health Program, Chapter 8 Emergency Operations, Section 8.2 Communications. Purpose: The purpose of this policy is for the Cortland County 911 Center to start an incident clock when there is a reported structure fire, hazardous materials incident, or when other conditions appears to be time sensitive or dangerous. Policy: 1. The 911 Center shall automatically start an incident clock when there is a report for a working structure fire or hazardous materials incident. 2. For any incident other than a fire or hazardous materials incident where the situation or conditions appear to be time sensitive or dangerous, the first arriving unit or Incident Commander needs to notify the 911 Center that they want the incident clock started. Example: 262 arrives on scene of a 2 car head on motor vehicle accident with entrapment and critical injuries. The golden hour is of essential need to the patient as well as the emergency responders charged with the duty of getting that victim to a trauma center. 3. The 911 dispatcher center shall notify the incident commander at every 10- minute increment with the time that resources have been on the incident until the fire is knocked down or the incident becomes stable. 4.
