100-001 Policies Documentation Effective Date: 1/1/08 Reference: Next Review: Modified Date: CLASSIFICATION: POLICY STATEMENT Issued By: Scott Roman, Fire Coordinator Purpose: To provide a consistent format for new documents and to re-classify and combine all fire emergency management policies and procedures into a single document called the Cortland County Fire and Emergency Management Policies Manual. Policy: 1. Existing Cortland County Fire and Emergency Management policies and procedures shall be categorized and distributed into one of the following categories: Policy Statement Internally generated and fairly rigid Standard Operating Guideline Internally generated. Temporary Notice Internally generated with an expiration date Interpretation Describes how to work with an existing standard Advisory Notice Internally generated. Relays information that should be disseminated which does not fit within any of the above classifications Job Procedure Internally generated. Describes the elements of a task in sufficient detail that someone not intimately familiar with the task can follow the instructions and complete the task. Form A document designed to collect information or data in a particular format. 2. Each document shall be issued a “Classification Code”, such as “100-001”. The first three digits represent the classification for the Cortland County Fire and Emergency Management Category. The codes are as follows: 100 General Policies / Organization Statements ---PAGE BREAK--- 200 Communications 300 Fire Ground Operations 400 Rescue Operations 500 Training Operations 600 County Teams 3. The next three digits establish the sequential ordering system for each category. 4. The Cortland County Fire Coordinator or his / her designee shall be responsible for updating new or revised policies as warranted. ISSUED BY FIRE COORDINATOR Scott Roman
