Staff Page 1 I 2 Jurisdiction: Cortland County Jurisdictional Class: Competitive Adopted: 10/15/69 Amended: 2/22/02 STAFF GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under general supervision, provides professional medical and clinical services for patients in a outpatient clinic; does related work as required. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: This is professional work permitting independent judgment. The staff provides clinical in the team treatment of problems of personality and behavior among clients of the Mental Health Clinic. Provides comprehensive evaluations in assigned cases, and provides consultation to clinic staff and others in the community (other agencies, public education, etc.). TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Renders diagnostic service for patients of the clinic; Participates as a team member in conferences concerned with diagnosis and treatment of patients; Provides treatment for patients; Contributes to the interpretation of methods and procedures to agencies responsible for carrying out the recommendations of the mental hygiene clinic in the community; Makes reports to practicing physicians about patients attending the clinic; Consults with community organizations and individuals relative to the treatment of patients; Engages in community mental health education; Develops and engages in such research projects as have met with official approval. FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Extensive knowledge of the principles and techniques of medical and practice of personality development and emotional and behavior problems in children and adults; Extensive knowledge of public health functions in community organizations and of state and local relationships in the work of treatment programs; Ability to participate effectively as a member of a team in the work of the total clinic program; Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a medical school approved by the University of the State of New York, completion of an approved internship and: A. At least three years of approved resident training in and/or neurology; or B.
