April 25, 2017 ATTN: Greater Cortland County Business Leaders RE: REGIONAL TRAINING CENTER CHARITABLE EVENT Dear Fellow Community and Business Leaders, I would like to take a moment of your time and invite along with encourage you to stand shoulder to shoulder with Walden Oaks Country Club in honoring and supporting our local emergency service providers at our 8th annual charitable golf event. We will gather at Walden Oaks on September 10, 2017 for the 8th annual RTC Invitational and carry on the mission of the prior tournaments by generating funds to sustain the operation of the Cortland County Regional Training Center (RTC). The RTC has become the nucleus for emergency preparedness training in the Central New York region by attracting a significant number of attendees from all corners of New York State that is having a direct financial impact on Cortland County. The RTC is now without fail fueling our local restaurants, hotel and retail businesses on a basis based on the myriad of diversified courses currently being offered at the facility. Multiple disciplines of community services including to but not limited to law enforcement, EMS, fire, Red Cross, health coalitions, youth safety and area school district safety programs are offered annually at the RTC. Included is a table that illustrates the increasing demand for the use of the facility and its attributes. Decisive training and awareness efforts have been initiated to battle the Methamphetamine invasion and the now epidemic clandestine drug labs associated with the local production of the drug coupled with escalating costs for requisite training materials, student safety equipment and continue enhancements that are needed to comply with local, state and federal training mandates continue to outpace the donation based revenues of the RTC. Walden Oaks Country Club proudly welcomes back all area emergency service providers, supporters and distinguished guests to participate in the 8th annual charitable fundraiser to benefit the Cortland County Regional Training Center. It has been 15 years since the inaugural event and the emergency services training facility has continued to evolve into a premier educational component for our emergency responders. All proceeds for the tournament will be applied to the annual, escalating costs incurred by the regional training center. In response to continued requests from you the beloved supporters from the community, we will once again gather and enjoy a day of reflection and comradery on the links. The format for this non-competitive gathering is “Captain & Crew” with a shotgun start at 0900 hr. This year a steak dinner will be provided with the presentation of prizes immediately following the completion of play. Play will be limited to 32 teams so please be timely with your registration returns. Games of chance, long drive, closest to the pin and skins will be offered throughout the course of play. Mulligans will also be available for purchase prior to the start. Entry fee of $75.00 per non-member teammate and $50.00 per Walden Oaks membership teammate includes; green fees, cart, and steak dinner.
