Audio Visual Aide Page 1 I 1 Jurisdiction: Cortland County Schools Jurisdictional Class: Non-Competitive Adopted: 4/23/73 Amended: 6/19/06; 1/17/17 AUDIO-VISUAL AIDE DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is routine work involving the operation, care and storage of projectors, phonographs, recorders, films, tapes and other audio-visual equipment. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher level employee. Supervision of others is not a responsibility of employees in this class. Does related work as required. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only) Inspects, cleans, repairs, stores and distributes films, transparencies and slides; Arranges for delivery of audio-visual equipment to classrooms; Reproduces instructional material such as overhead transparencies, dry mount materials, spirit masters and audio tapes; May instruct faculty and students in the use of audio-visual equipment; Makes minor repairs to equipment; Inventories and maintains supply of bulbs, fuses and other minor replacement equipment; Assists in the processing of library materials; When not involved in audio-visual work, may act as a teacher aide. FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONALL CHARACTERISTICS: Good general intelligence; Ability to learn the principles, practices and techniques of projection and sound equipment operation and maintenance; Ability to get along well with others; Mechanical aptitude; Clerical aptitude; Resourcefulness; Tact; Courtesy; Good judgment; Good physical condition. ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from senior high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
