2018 CORTLAND COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT SPECIFICATIONS AND BID FORM SUPPLY OF HEAVY ROCK RIP-RAP This bid is for supply and delivery of the specified material to County project sites at various unspecified locations throughout the County of Cortland. All bids shall include all items listed in the “Checklist of documents for submission” found on page 1 of the Cortland County Standard Contract - 2018. The bid shall be in conformance with the terms and conditions specified in the Advertisement for Bids, and shall also be in conformance with the following specifications. SPECIFICATIONS: The Heavy Rock Rip-Rap material and mine source shall be approved as a Rip-Rap and Stone Filling source by the N.Y.S. Department of Transportation Materials Bureau. The material shall meet or exceed the Soundness requirements set forth in Section 620-2.01 of the current N.Y.S. Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Standard Specifications. The Heavy Rock Rip-Rap shall be sorted prior to loading onto transport trucks such that the resulting delivered material consists of stones shaped as nearly as practicable in the form of right, rectangular prisms in conformance with the gradation requirement for weight, size and approximate thickness as follows: PERCENT OF TOTAL APPROXIMATE THICKNESS STONE WEIGHT BY WEIGHT or SIZE Heavier than 1,400 lb. 90 - 95 1.2 ft. to 2.0 ft. thick but lighter than 2,000 lb. N.A. 5 - 10 Smaller than 10 inch size METHOD OF MEASUREMENT: The method of measurement shall be the number of tons delivered to project site stockpiles. BASIS FOR PAYMENT: The prices bid for Heavy Rock Rip-Rap shall include the cost of mining, sorting the Rip-Rap to achieve proper gradation as specified, outloading the product onto suitable transport trucks, transporting to any County project site designated by the County of Cortland, and unloading the product at said site.
