Park Attendant Page 1 I 1 Jurisdiction: Cortland County Jurisdictional Class: Labor Adopted: 9/13/04 Amended: 4/24/06; 6/19/09; 12/11/12; 5/2/13; 6/24/24 PARK ATTENDANT DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The incumbent is responsible for performing routine manual work in the maintenance of the park and recreation facilities. The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher level supervisor. Does related work as required. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only) Performs routine grounds keeping work such as mowing lawns, planting grass, trimming shrubs, and disposing of garbage; Performs general custodial tasks as sweeping and emptying trash containers in the office, shop, and recreation facilities; Acts as flag person as needed. FULL PERFORMANCE, KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Willingness to perform routine manual tasks; Ability to follow oral and written instructions; Willingness to work in all weather conditions; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: None SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid New York State driver's license appropriate to the vehicles operated. Failure to maintain a NYS driver’s license including driving privileges throughout employment will result in disciplinary action or dismissal. Candidates must be at least eighteen (18) years old to be eligible for appointment.
