Fire Hydrant Testing/Servicing Servicing and Testing of Fire Hydrants – 2002 Edition, NFPA 1001 6.5.4 NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF STATE Skill Sheet 9-1 Candidate's Name Date Evaluator's Name Evaluator's Signature The candidate, given a complete set of PPE, hydrant wrench, spanner wrench, Pitot tube, pressure gauge and access to a fire hydrant shall demonstrate flow testing and preventive maintenance of a fire hydrant in accordance with Delmar, Firefighter’s Handbook, 2 ed., NYS ed. Time limit for this station is 10 minutes. 02/2007 Criteria: Pass Fail Operates fire hydrant (slowly opening and closing) Cleans (as needed) threaded discharges (may be verbalized) Lubricates (as needed) threaded discharges, bonnet, and stem (may be verbalized) Identifies common hydrant defects and corrective measures (broken stem, l ki d d d h d ) Follows procedure for using Pitot tube and pressure gauges Demonstrates how to chart and determine hydrant flow Evaluator Notes
