2017 CORTLAND COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT SPECIFICATIONS AND BID FORM TRANSIT MIX CONCRETE / PRECAST CONCRETE BLOCKS The bid shall be in conformance with the terms and conditions specified in the Advertisement for Bids, and shall also be in conformance with the following specifications. Bids must have all items denoted in the “Checklist of documents to be returned with contract” attached. These items can be found in the Standard Clauses for NY State Contracts document and shall be considered a required submission for this bid. SPECIFICATIONS: Transit Mix Concrete: The Concrete batching plant, batching operation, aggregate and cement used, Concrete mix designs and method of delivery shall conform to the most current New York State Department of Transportation Standard or Special Specifications for the respective concrete classes. The batch plant and all materials shall be currently approved by NYSDOT. Prices bid for each concrete class item shall include delivery by transit mix truck to any project site within Cortland County, NY. Prices bid shall include thirty (30) minutes truck time on the work site. Prices bid will be based on minimum order of four cubic yards. Payments will be made at the price bid per cubic yard of concrete ordered and delivered to the project site. Precast Concrete Blocks: Precast Concrete Blocks shall be unreinforced and shall be cast using concrete meeting the following requirements: 3,000 psi design compressive strength Water / Cement ratio (by weight) = 0.46 Cement Content = 606 lb./c.y. *Sand, % total aggregate (solid volume) = 36.2 Maximum coarse aggregate size = NYSDOT Size Designation CA2 Slump Range = 2½ inch – 3½ inch Entrained Air Content, = 6.5% (Range of between 5.0% - 8.0%) *Sand Fineness Modulus = 2.80 Precast Concrete Blocks shall be placed and cured in accordance with the requirements of the American Concrete Institute specifications for placing and curing precast concrete units. ---PAGE BREAK--- Waste Concrete Blocks: Waste Concrete Blocks shall be unreinforced and shall be cast using concrete that is considered to be waste concrete by the supplier. 3,000 PSI Flowable Grout: The Flowable Grout Material shall be manufactured using fine aggregates, coarse aggregates, and Type I / II Portland cement that are NYSDOT approved, shall meet the requirements of ASTM C-476, and shall meet the following specifications: 3,000 psi design compressive strength Water / Cement ratio = 0.65 Concrete unit weight = 144 PCF Maximum coarse aggregate size - NYSDOT Size Designation 1A 8 inch - 11inch slump range Entrained Air = 3.0% / - END OF SPECIFICATIONS ---PAGE BREAK--- 2017 CORTLAND COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT BID FORM (PAGE 1 OF 2) TRANSIT MIX CONCRETE / PRECAST CONCRETE BLOCKS TRANSIT MIX CONCRETE Concrete Class A for c.y.
