Perfetti, DISTRICT ATTORNEY To request a possible reduction of your charges, please obtain the following materials: 1. A legible copy of your traffic tickets [please keep the originals for your records]. If you do not have the ticket, you must obtain one from the Court. If your ticket is a misdemeanor or felony level charge, you must appear in Court, as they are not eligible for the reduction process. 2. An Abstract of Driving Record from the Department of Motor Vehicles from the State in which you are licensed. Abstracts of Driving Record are available over the internet in many states, in New York go to: . In Cortland County Abstracts of Driving Record can be obtained at the Cortland County Department of Motor Vehicles Office located 112 River Street Cortland, New York. 3. A self-addressed, stamped, business-sized, envelope [unless submitting through email] 4. A letter of explanation with facts or comments supporting the request for the reduction. 5. If the ticket involved a motor vehicle accident, you must then provide a copy of the accident report, which is available from the responding law enforcement agency or your insurance company. As well, you will need to obtain an indemnification letter from your insurance company stating its intention regarding all claims or potential claims arising from the accident. 6.
