Loading/Advancing Pre-connected Slot Load (Minuteman Load) Loading/Advancing a Slot (Minuteman) Pre-connected Bed – 2002 Edition, NFPA 1001 5.1.1.2, 5.3 NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF STATE Skill Sheet 10-5 Candidate's Name Date Evaluator's Name Evaluator's Signature The candidate, given a complete set of PPE and SCBA, and an engine with 200’ of 1-1/2” or 1-3/4” attack line shall demonstrate the correct procedure for loading and advancing a slot (minuteman) load attack line in accordance with Delmar, Firefighter’s Handbook, 2 ed., NYS ed. The student may use an assistant; however, the student must instruct the assistant as if he/she had no prior knowledge. JPR 10-21 and 10-22 Time limit for this station is 10 minutes. 02/2007 Criteria: Pass Fail LOADING Attach the female coupling to the discharge outlet Flat lay the first half of the total hose length providing a pulling loop near the bottom of the load and leaving the last few feet outside of the bed Attach the nozzle to the remaining hose and continue the flat load with the nozzle end of the hose extended out the rear to be used as a pulling handle At the completion of the flat load, connect the last section of hose to the end of the bottom section of hose left outside the bed in step #2 so that the connected sections are on the top layer ADVANCING Lift up the nozzle and layers above it while pulling them out of the bed and placing them midway on the shoulder Step away to remove the remainder of the top layers Turn around and pull the loop to remove the remaining layers while walking toward the fire When the bottom layers are fully stretched, allow the shoulder load to flake out while continuing to walk toward the fire Evaluator Notes
