1 2017 CORTLAND COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT SPECIFICATIONS AND BID FORMS ABRASIVES FOR SNOW AND ICE CONTROL The bid shall be in conformance with the terms and conditions specified in the Advertisement for Bids, and shall also be in conformance with the following specifications. SPECIFICATIONS: Abrasives shall be sand, gravel, cinders or crushed stone which shall be clean and hard and meet the following gradation requirements: Percent finer by weight: Sieve size Minimum Maximum 3/8 100 1/4 95 100 8 50 75 16 20 55 50 10 200 2 Hauling will be done by the Highway Department regardless of weather. The location of the stockpile must be accessible in inclimate weather. Bidders may, at their option, offer a discount for material picked up during the summer months. If a discount is offered, the bidder must indicate the date on which the discount ends. Price bid is for material at the bidders plant loaded by bidder onto Cortland County Highway Department trucks. In determining the bid awards, the County of Cortland reserves the right to purchase based on location and availability. Purchase will be made from suppliers submitting low bids after consideration has been given to hauling costs. Bids must have all items denoted in the “Checklist of documents to be returned with contract” attached. These items can be found in the Standard Clauses for NY State Contracts document and shall be considered a required submission for this bid.
