Two Firefighter Extension Ladder Carry and Raise Two Firefighter Extension Ladder Deployment – 2002 Edition, NFPA 1001 5.1.1.2, 5.3.1, 5.3.6 NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF STATE Skill Sheet 14-2 Candidate's Name Date Evaluator's Name Evaluator's Signature The candidate working with a partner, given a complete set of PPE and an extension ladder, shall correctly carry the ladder a distance of 50 feet, raise the ladder to a given objective, set the ladder at the correct climbing angle, and climb the ladder, in accordance with Delmar, Firefighter’s Handbook, 2 ed., NYS ed. FF FF Boot Camp Candidates will perform this as a 1 FF skill as 14-1, 14-2, 14-3, 14-6, 14-7, 14-9, 14- 11 Time limit for this station is 5 minutes. 02/2007 Criteria: Pass Fail Carries ladder a distance of 50' to the building using an approved method Checks for overhead obstructions before raising Butts ladder correctly, appropriate distance from building Raises ladder to a vertical position using Rung Raise or Beam Raise Fly section extended to an appropriate height Ladder is stable and under control at all times Halyard is secured and locks are visually checked Candidate safely climbs to the assigned point (maintains hand contact with ladder at all times while climbing) and applies leg lock Ladder is footed at all times Candidate safely descends ladder (maintains hand contact with ladder at all times) Candidate correctly lowers ladder to ground Evaluator Notes
