200-006 Content of Announcements Effective Date: 1/1/09 Reference: Next Review: Modified Date: CLASSIFICATION: POLICY STATEMENT Issued By: Scott Roman, Fire Coordinator Purpose: To establish guidelines for the content of announcements to be made over the fire radio system Policy: 1. Announcements – the following types of messages are allowed during the announcements and are to be called in or faxed to the 911 Communications Center by 17:30 hours in order to be included with that day’s series of announcements: a. Meetings – to be announced for up to two nights b. Trainings – to be announced for up to two nights c. Work Details – to be announced for up to two nights d. Funerals – to be announced for up to two nights 2. The following types of announcements are not permitted: a. No games of chance b. No lottery tickets c. No bingo d. No fundraiser events 3. Special Arrangements – limited to work and training details, the timing of which precluded prior announcement of the event. 4. Equipment Status – announcement of equipment status at times other than the evening announcements will be reserved for apparatus that will be or has been out of service for longer than required for routine maintenance. 5. Paging – paging via the fire radio system is to be utilized as a last resort option when attempting to contact a member of the fire service and assumes that ---PAGE BREAK--- other methods of contact have been exhausted and the need for contact is immediate.
