NYS MODULE 2 Search and Rescue GOAL The candidate, given a complete set of PPE, SCBA, a forcible entry tool and a hand light, shall conduct a building search and demonstrate the rescue of a simulated victim or victims in a simulated smoke obscured area, or with an obscured SCBA face piece. OBJECTIVES At the completion of this module the candidate shall: 1. Recognize the hazards associated with building search and rescue operations. 2. Describe the differences between primary and secondary searches. 3. Demonstrate the proper procedure for building search, including: a. Using forcible entry tool to aid in the search. b. Searching under and around furniture. c. Searching behind doors. d. Searching all closets. e. Staying low (crawling) throughout the exercise. f. Locating the victim. 4. Demonstrate the proper procedure for victim removal (drags and carries).
