Extending Hoselines with Break-apart Nozzle Extending Hoseline (Break-apart Nozzle) – 2002 Edition, NFPA 1001 5.1.1.2, 5.3 NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF STATE Skill Sheet 10-10 Candidate's Name Date Evaluator's Name Evaluator's Signature The candidate, given a complete set of PPE, a charged 2½” attack hoseline with a 2½” break-apart nozzle, a 50’ section of 1½” hose (or 1¾” hose with 1½” couplings) and an additional nozzle, shall demonstrate the correct procedure for shutting down the charged hoseline, extending the hoseline by additional 50’ using the break-apart nozzle, and charging the extended hoseline as outlined in Delmar, Firefighter’s Handbook, 2 ed., NYS ed. (This skill could also be done using a 2½” hose extension with proper adapters.) JPR 10-32 Time limit for this station is 5 minutes. 02/2007 Criteria: Pass Fail Shut down charged line at break-apart nozzle Remove nozzle tip from break-apart nozzle assembly Add additional hose to break-apart handle assembly (using adapters if necessary) Connect nozzle to end of extended hoseline Check with firefighter at the nozzle – prepared to charge hoseline Charge extended hoseline by opening control valve at break-apart nozzle assembly Evaluator Notes
