Ladder Rescue – Conscious Victim NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF STATE Practical Examination qPass qFail Candidate's Name Date Evaluator's Name Evaluator's Signature The firefighter, given an appropriate structure and a ground ladder, shall place the ladder correctly for the rescue of a conscious victim from a second story window and assist the victim down the ladder, while wearing full turnout gear, as outlined in NYS Truck Company Operations Time limit for this station is 10 minutes. Timing starts when the candidate touches the ladder after telling the evaluator he is ready to start. TASK POSSIBLE POINTS POINTS AWARDED COMMENTS Ladder is placed with tip at or just below sill 1 Climbing angle and tip position are checked and corrected as necessary prior to climbing 1 Guides victim onto ladder with victim facing ladder 1 Firefighter places his arms under the victim’s armpits 1 Firefighter grasps rungs in front of victim 1 One knee is placed between victim’s legs while descending 1 Descends ladder maintaining arms around victim and one knee between victim’s legs at all times. 1 Total possible points 7 Candidate must achieve a total of 5 points to pass this station and be awarded all points in the shaded, bold areas. Unacceptable performance or failure to complete any task in the shaded, bold areas constitutes a failure of the station. No partial points shall be awarded. This station may be performed with Single Firefighter or Two Firefighter Ladder Raise. 02/20/2003
