Columbia County Library Board Meeting November 14, 2023 • 11:30 am In attendance: Columbia County Library Board Russell Wilder, Board Chair Windy Bedingfield, Treasurer Marlena Bergeron Dr. Sandra Carraway Tripp Calloway Barry Paschal Lindsey Brantley Library Staff • Mary Lin Maner, Library Director • Devin Morris, Regional Admin Coordinator Other Scott Johnson, County Manager Glenn Kennedy, Deputy County Manager Allison Couch, Commissioner, District 4 Gary Richardson, Commissioner, District 3 John Luton, Director, Community Services Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 11:32 am. Approval of Agenda The agenda was approved. Approval of Minutes October minutes were approved. Friends of the Libraries See Friends Treasurer Report. Treasurer Report See Treasurer Report County Library Manager Report See October Stat Report. CCO will have an author visit in March 2024, more information to come. Report LibTech grant items have been submitted for approval. ---PAGE BREAK--- Unfinished Business Book Reconsideration Requests: Board voted to move the November Book Reconsideration Requests to December to discuss new guidelines for reconsideration provided by the county. New Business: County Manager Scott Johnson provided legal guidelines for the board to use when evaluating book reconsiderations. Board discussed the updated Columbia County Library Board Constitution and Bylaws and Columbia County Library Collection Development Policy. o Board made changes to clarify wording. o Motion was made to approve both documents with changes, all voted in favor. New Requests for Reconsideration: o Welcome to the Family by Mary Hoffman Book was reviewed in December 2022, board voted to keep the title. It will not be considered again. o You Know Me Well by Nina LaCour Book will be reviewed by Tripp Calloway, Lindsey Brantley and Dr. Sandra Carraway and will be discuss at the January 2024 meeting.
