1 Columbia County Library Board Meeting February 22, 2024 • 11:30 am In attendance: Columbia County Library Board • Dr. Sandra Carraway • Lindsey Brantley • Tripp Calloway • Windy Bedingfield, Treasurer • Barry Paschal • Hillary Millar Library Staff • Mary Lin Maner, Library Director • Devin Morris, Regional Admin Coordinator Other • Allison Couch, District 4 Commissioner • Glenn Kennedy, Deputy County Manager • John Luton, Director, Community Services Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 11:30 am. Approval of Agenda January 2024 agenda was approved. Approval of Minutes January 2024 minutes were approved. Friends of the Libraries • See Friends Treasurer Report. Treasurer Report • See Treasurer Report • CD maturing on February 23, 2024, Windy gave options from Edwards Jones for renewing the CD. A motion was made to renew the CD at 5.1% for 12 months. All voted in favor. • Another CD will be maturing on March 1, 2024, options will be discussed and voted on via email. County Library Manager Report • Mary Lin provided circulation stats. • Author Silvia Moreno-Garcia will be here March 9. • Informed the board of an Open Records Request and the information she provided in response. • Library staff will have plans for the new Tween/Middle Grade section ready for discussion at the April board meeting. ---PAGE BREAK--- 2 Report • Lib Tech Grant items have arrived and are being distributed. • Summer Reading planning has begun. Unfinished Business: Book Reconsideration Requests: A motion was made to table all book reconsideration requests until the new Tween/Middle Grade section is complete and the discussion on changes to the Reconsideration Policy are finalized. All voted in favor. New Business: The Regional Board needs to additional members from the CCO Board. A motion was made to nominate Barry Paschal and Hillary Millar. All voted in favor. Request to speak: • Ayman Fadel • Leslie Johnson • Priscilla Bence • Greta Vega, unable to attend, her letter was given to the board members. Next meeting: Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 11:30 am at the Columbia County Library. Meeting adjourned at 11:58 pm.
