Columbia County Historic Property Preservation Advisory Committee Meeting Agenda Tuesday, December 10th, 2024 4PM Performing Arts Center, Windsor Club, 1000 Market Street, Evans, GA 1. Call to Order a. Introductions 2. Approval of October 22nd, 2024 Meeting Minutes 3. Old Business a. Woodlawn CME-Update b. White Oak Community Signage-Update c. Jackson Home Place-Update 4. Adjourn ---PAGE BREAK--- Historic Property Preservation Advisory Committee October 22nd, 2024 at 4:00 PM Evans Government Center, Building B Conference Room, 1st Floor Evans, Georgia Present at the meeting included: Bill Morris, Chairman Phil Turner Tripp Calloway Adam Pankow Billy Jackson, Jr. Will Butler, Planning Manager 1. Call to Order Chairman Bill Morris called the meeting to order at 4:14 PM. A quorum of the Committee was present with Dean Beasley, Vice Chairman, and Jamey Sprowls, Secretary, absent. 2. Approval of the July 23rd, 2024 Meeting Minutes Tripp Calloway motioned for approval of the Minutes. Adam Pankow seconded. The motion carried unanimously. 3. Old Business a. Woodlawn CME-Update Chairman Morris gave a brief update. We will need to revisit this item when Jamey Sprowls is in attendance. b. White Oak Community Signage Planning Manager Butler is working on this. Will provide update at next meeting. c. Winfield Community Center Chairman Morris provided an update. The books have been transferred to the vault. We will need to check on a donation process, as well as ownership of the items. The organization has been dissolved with the Secretary of State. d. Museum at PAC-Update Proposed to meet at the PAC for the next meeting to see the space. Planning Manager Butler will work on making this happen. e. Leah Museum Chairman Morris and Phil Turner have met there to see the property. Pretty much only includes Leah. They may video the site and provide to the County. Progress has been made at this time. f. Jackson Home Place-Update Billy Jackson, Jr. provided an update. The site has been videotaped. Working on getting more information. 4. New Business (These items were not on the agenda, but were discussed organically by the Committee) a. Cedar Grove Chairman Morris gave an update on the progress with Cedar Grove. The house is likely to be moved but will be very expensive to accomplish. A local family is looking to move the house to their property. ---PAGE BREAK--- b. Pines Living Memorials Chairman Morris discussed the Living Memorials in Columbia County for those lost during World War II. May investigate getting locations of the original sites. c. Vernon Thomas, Sr. The Committee discussed Vernon Thomas, Sr., the former baseball sandlots throughout Columbia County and the teams that played there, and the history of them. d. Donations Billy Jackson gave an update on donations given to the Save the Columns Fund and could they be given to Columbia County for the museum or other preservation type activities. Planning Manager Butler was going to check on the process. 5. Adjourn Prior to adjournment of the meeting, the Committee set their next meeting for Tuesday, December 10th, 2024 at 4PM. Tentatively scheduled to be at the PAC. Meeting was adjourned at 5:02 PM. Chairman Morris motioned and Tripp Calloway seconded. The next meeting of the Historic Property Preservation Advisory Committee meeting is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, December 10th at 4PM in the Performing Arts Center located at 1000 Market Street in Evans, Georgia ---PAGE BREAK--- White Oak Community Sign Placement Proposed signage to be placed in Columbia County ROW.
