1 Columbia County Library Board Meeting July 9, 2024 • 11:30 am In attendance: Columbia County Library Board • Dr. Sandra Carraway, Chair • Lindsey Brantley, Vice Chair • Windy Bedingfield, Treasurer • Tripp Calloway • Hillary Millar • Bill Speer • Barry Paschal Absent Library Staff • Mary Lin Maner, Library Director • Devin Morris, Regional Admin Coordinator Other • Allison Couch, District 4 Commissioner • Glenn Kennedy, Deputy County Manager • John Luton, Division Director, Community Services Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 11:31 am. Approval of Agenda June 2024 agenda was approved. Approval of Minutes June 2024 minutes were approved. Friends of the Libraries • See Friends Treasurer Report. Treasurer Report • See Treasurer Report County Library Manager Report • Mary Lin provided circulation stats and library updates. • Mary Lin gave an update on the Middle Ground section • Mary Lin informed the board that the Juvenile Non-fiction Human Body section has been moved to the Adult Non-fiction section. Report • Mary Lin provided update of the regional libraries. ---PAGE BREAK--- 2 Unfinished Business: Requests for Reconsideration: • Heat Wave by TJ Klune o Lindsey Brantley motioned to recommend that the title be moved from Young Adult to Adult Fiction. o Hillary Millar seconded the motion o Board voted 6-1 in favor, Bill Speer opposed • True You: A gender Journey by Gwen Agna o Lindsey Brantley motioned to recommend that the title be moved from Juvenile Non-fiction to Adult Non-Fiction. o Board voted all in favor • Tell Me: What Children Really Want to Know about Bodies, Sex, and Emotions o This title was moved to the Adult Non-fiction section when the entire Human Body section was moved, no further action is needed.
