MINUTES EMS ADVISORY BOARD MEETING September 5, 2024 Chairman Lopez called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. Others present at the meeting included Brian Clark, Suzie Hughes, Chief Wayne Kent, Capt. Andy Shedd, Kevin Stokes and Chief Jeremy Wallen. Members absent were Chief Ray Blessing, George Bratcher, Vince Brogdon, Larry Hobbs, Matthew Welder, Chief Rob Lewis, Lt. James Moss and Dr. Richard Schwartz. Guests present were Jim perdue, Asst. Chief Brent Willis, John Smith, Steven Losgar, Shawn Granato, Bill Botham, Julianne Hartman, Helen Bratton, Corbin Cooney, Deputy County Manager Glenn Kennedy and Phil Donohue. Suzie Hughes called the roll and a quorum was established with seven members present. Brian Clark made a motion to approve the June 6, 2024 meeting minutes as written. Chief Wayne Kent seconded the motion, and the motion carried unanimously. Recent Gold Cross Initiatives, Incidents and Events – Col. John Smith updated members on the following: • Reviewed EMS trip counts by nature of call for the period 06/01/2024 – 08/31/2024 along with the number of calls per hour. Calls are logged as they are received in dispatch. A copy of the report is made a part of the minutes. • AEMT class has been extended due to NREMT requirements. They will finish in a couple of weeks. • The next EMR class is finishing up and waiting on testing. • EMT Class is 4 weeks in with 18 candidates. Fire Departments First Responder Calls Columbia County Fire Rescue – June 2024 – (Medical) 525 (CPR-10); July 2024 – (Medical) 627 (CPR - August 2024 – (Medical) 539 (CPR – 10) Grovetown Department of Public Safety – May 2024 – 74; June 2024 – 72; July 2024 - 75 Harlem Department of Public Safety – May 2024 – 24; June 2024 – 28; July 2024 - 24 Other Business / Announcements: Discussion followed on the causes of delays in arrival times of units due to traffic/construction/wall time issues. Chief Wallen reviewed the tracking dashboard of EMS responses. Dr. Lopez made a motion for all services (Fire & EMS) to report wall times to the EMS Advisory Board, broken down by hospitals. Chief Wallen seconded the motion, the motion carried unanimously. All services are asked to come back to the Board with that the Board can address. Ms. Helen Bratton, Columbia County Coroner candidate, introduced herself to the Board. Being no further business to discuss the meeting adjourned at 10:53 a.m.
