Columbia County Library Board Meeting December 13, 2022 • 11:30 am In attendance: Columbia County Library Board Russell Wilder, Board Chair Marianne Frye, Treasurer Marlena Bergeron Tripp Calloway Absent Patrick Conley Janet Wheatley Stephanie Coghlan Library Staff • Mary Lin Maner, Library Director • Devin Morris, Regional Admin Coordinator Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 11:33 am. Approval of Agenda The agenda was approved unanimously and without comment. Approval of Minutes The minutes from the October meeting were approved with changes. Friends of the Libraries Checkbook balance = $59,450.27 Friends will be having a fundraiser on January 29, 2023. New Business Request for Reconsideration -Priscilla Bence The board formed a subcommittee to review the 4 books that Mrs. Bence had submitted for reconsideration. The members of that subcommittee present their finding on the 4 books, then Mrs. Bence read her statements on each book the she had submitted to the board. The board voted to keep in the collection in its current location: Bathe the Cat by Alice B. McGinty The Great Big Book of Families by Mary Hoffman Welcome to the Family by Mary Hoffman ---PAGE BREAK--- (Amended May 24, 2023) The board voted 3 (Wilder, Frye, Calloway) to 1 (Bergeron) to remove from our collection: It Feels Good to be Yourself: A Book About Gender Identity by Theresa Thorn. The book is still available by request from other Georgia libraries. Treasurer Report See Treasurer Report. County Library Manager Report FOX 54 came and had a Holiday Storytime on Saturday, December 10. Four of their anchors read stories and gave out goodie bags. Author Lisa Gardener will be give a presentation on February 2, 2023. We will have a Bigfoot presentation on March 12. Report All member’s attended previous meeting. Unfinished Business Board voted to approve changes to the Columbia County Library Board Bylaws. Board voted to approve changes to the Request for Reconsideration forms. Next meeting: Tuesday, February 7, 2022 at 11:30 am at the Columbia County Library. Meeting adjourned at 12:45 pm.
