Evans Library Harlem Library Jabez Hardin Auditorium located in the Evans Library Columbia County Performing Arts Center Canal Headgates ---PAGE BREAK--- POSITION SUMMARY The incumbent is responsible for directing the operation of the three public libraries in the Columbia County library system, coordinating with the Greater Clarks Hill Regional Library System, and will provide services to the citizens of Columbia County. This position is responsible for promoting library services to the community. The incumbent assumes a leadership role by coordinating staff activities of the County libraries. Work requires sitting at a desk with moderate standing and walking. Occasional lifting of objects weighing 25 pounds or less and must occasionally lift objects weighing 25 pounds or more. Employee must use equipment which requires a high degree of dexterity. Work is performed in an office or library. This position requires weekly visitation to the Harlem and Grovetown libraries to ensure the functionality of the branches. The incumbent provides direct supervision of the Reference Manager, Circulation Manager, Children’s Librarian, Evans, Harlem, and Grovetown Branch Managers and indirect supervision of all other County library positions. A Masters of Library Science from an accredited university is preferred; experience to sufficiently understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department. A minimum of three to five years library related experience and two years supervisory and management experience is required. Grade 5 or higher Librarian certification from State of Georgia within six months from date of hire is required. Possession of or the ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license is required. DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE A Masters of Library Science from an accredited university is preferred; experience to sufficiently understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department. A minimum of three to five years library related experience and two years supervisory and management experience is required. Grade 5 or higher Librarian certification from State of Georgia within six months from date of hire is required. Possession of or the ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license is required. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS The starting annual salary for this position is $85,300. In addition, this position carries an annual vehicle allowance of $9750 and annual cell phone allowance of $1440.
