Instructions for First Time Applicant Temporary Alcoholic Beverage Permit Development Services Division Licensing Department 630 Ronald Reagan Drive Evans, GA 30809 [PHONE REDACTED] [EMAIL REDACTED] Events at which alcoholic beverages are sold to guests directly or indirectly are required to obtain a Columbia County Temporary Alcoholic Beverage Permit. Businesses that do not have an alcoholic beverage catering license issued within Georgia must also obtain a Georgia Department of Revenue Special Event Permit. Applications submitted less than 21 days before the event may not be approved. Businesses and nonprofits are required to obtain a business license prior to issuance of a permit. Businesses or Individuals without an Alcoholic Beverage Catering License: You are required to apply for the Georgia Department of Revenue Special Event Permit and Columbia County Temporary Alcoholic Beverage Permit online through the Geogia Tax Center: A1. Complete the Columbia County Temporary Alcoholic Beverage Permit Application. A2. Apply for the special event permit using the Georgia Department of Revenue’s Georgia Tax Center (GTC) Their application requires uploading the completed Columbia County Temporary Alcoholic Beverage Permit Application from step A1 as Local Documentation. GTC will send an email notice to us. You will receive email confirmation from [EMAIL REDACTED] within 1 business day that we received the notice. The email will include the Columbia County application number to reference when submitting your criminal history and making payment. A3. Obtain the applicant’s criminal history from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office. Criminal histories are not accepted from any other Sheriff’s Office or Police Department. The applicant must go in person to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Evans Substation at 650 A Ronald Reagan Drive (most convenient to the Licensing Department) or the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office Records Section at 2273 County Camp Road, Appling. A government issued picture identification is required. The fee is $10.00 (cash only) and requests can normally be processed while you wait. Criminal histories may be obtained weekdays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Applicants who obtain multiple permits must submit a new criminal history yearly. A4. Submit the original criminal history report and $50 permit fee to Licensing via mail or drop off. You will need to provide your application number when submitting both. We accept cash, personal or business check, MasterCard and Visa. Your application will be routed for approval. A5. Register for a Citizen Self Service account at Once registered, please email your username and the name of the business/individual registered so that we may link your link to your accounts. You will use this site to download/print your permit and pay for future permits. If you would like assistance applying through GTC, please contact our office to schedule a time. This service is not available for walk ins. You will need to have already registered your account and be able to log in. At the meeting you will need to have a device you can log in to and all documents you will need stored electronically on the device so they may be uploaded. Licensed Alcoholic Beverage Caterers: Complete the Columbia County Temporary Alcoholic Beverage Permit Application and email it to [EMAIL REDACTED]. If you are from outside Columbia County, include a copy the alcoholic beverage catering license issued by the Georgia city/county where you are located. You will receive email confirmation from [EMAIL REDACTED] within 1 business day that we received the application.
