Historic Property Preservation Advisory Committee July 23rd, 2024 at 4:00 PM Evans Government Center, Building B Conference Room, 1st Floor Evans, Georgia Present at the meeting included: Bill Morris, Chairman Dean Beasley, Vice Chairman Jamey Sprowls, Secretary Tripp Calloway Adam Pankow Billy Jackson, Jr. Will Butler, Planning Manager 1. Call to Order Chairman Bill Morris called the meeting to order at 4:02 PM. A quorum of the Committee was present with Phil Turner absent. Billy Jackson, Jr. arrived at the meeting at 4:22PM. Chairman Morris asked for introductions of all members since there were some new faces in attendance. 2. Approval of the April 23rd, 2024 Meeting Minutes Adam Pankow made the motion to accept the meeting minutes as written, as well as officers as voted upon. Vice Chairman Beasley seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously. 3. Old Business a. Woodlawn CME Secretary Sprowls gave an update on the efforts to record the history of the church. Stated the church wants to do interviews and is working on getting those set up. Chairman Morris explained the goal of recording this information. b. White Oak Community Signage Planning Manager Butler is working on this and will have an update for the next meeting. c. Winfield Community Center Vice Chairman Beasley spoke with the Community Center about the old school and library books at the Center. Looking at utilizing space at the Tax Commissioners Office for storage and would transfer to that location. Will need to verify it books would be given or donated. 4. New Business a. Museum at PAC-Update Chairman Morris updated the Committee regarding a meeting with County Administration regarding the space. Suggested that staff visit North Augusta’s museum to gather information. b. Leah Museum The Committee discussed this matter. c. Jackson Home Place Chairman Morris, Phil Turner, & Billy Jackson, Jr. have toured the home place and also working on filming the building. Have documentation on the house itself and are working on speaking with Senator Billy Jackson, Sr. about the home and County history. ---PAGE BREAK--- 5. Adjourn Prior to adjournment of the meeting, the Committee set their next meeting for Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024 at 4PM. Meeting was adjourned at 5:03 PM. Chairman Morris motioned and Tripp Calloway seconded. The next meeting of the Historic Property Preservation Advisory Committee meeting is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, October 22nd 2024 at 4PM in the Building B Conference Room, 1st Floor, located at 630 Ronald Reagan Drive in Evans, GA 30809
