1 Columbia County Library Board Meeting June 11, 2024 • 11:30 am In attendance: Columbia County Library Board • Dr. Sandra Carraway, Chair • Lindsey Brantley, Vice Chair • Windy Bedingfield, Treasurer • Tripp Calloway • Hillary Millar • Bill Speer • Barry Paschal Absent Library Staff • Mary Lin Maner, Library Director • Devin Morris, Regional Admin Coordinator Other • Glenn Kennedy, Deputy County Manager Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 11:30 am. Approval of Agenda April 2024 agenda was approved. Approval of Minutes April 2024 minutes were approved. Friends of the Libraries • See Friends Treasurer Report. Treasurer Report • See Treasurer Report County Library Manager Report • Mary Lin provided circulation stats and library updates. Report • Mary Lin provided update of the regional libraries. ---PAGE BREAK--- 2 Unfinished Business: Requests for Reconsideration: • Heat Wave by TJ Klune was reviewed by staff, decision was made that it remains in the YA section where currently cataloged. Priscilla Bence would like to appeal to the board. • True You: A gender Journey by Gwen Agna was reviewed by staff, decision was made that it remains in the Juvenile Non-fiction where currently cataloged. Priscilla Bence would like to appeal to the board. • The Bare-Naked Book by Kathy Stinson was reviewed by staff, decision was made that it remains in the Easy Non-fiction section where currently cataloged. Patron did not respond to library staff decision. • A Different Kind of Normal by Abigail Balfe was reviewed by staff, decision was made re-catalog it to Adult Non-fiction with a YA sticker. The Patron is satisfied with this decision and does not wish to appeal to the board. New Business: Requests for Reconsideration: • Black Flamingo by Dean Atta was reviewed by staff, decision was made that it remains in the YA section where currently cataloged. Patron did not respond to library staff decision. • A Court of Thorns and Roses Series by Sara J Maas was reviewed by staff, decision was made to re-catalog the first two books in the series to Adult Fiction where the rest of the series was already cataloged. Patron did not respond to library staff decision. • Tell Me: What children really want to know about bodies, sex, and emotions by Katharina von der Gathen was reviewed by staff, decision was made that it remains in the Juvenile Non-fiction where currently cataloged. Kristen Atkinson would like to appeal this title. Kristen Atkinson and Priscilla Bence were both given time to speak about the titles they were appealing.
