1 Columbia County Library Board Meeting May 14, 2024 • 11:30 am In attendance: Columbia County Library Board • Dr. Sandra Carraway, Chair • Lindsey Brantley, Vice Chair • Windy Bedingfield, Treasurer • Tripp Calloway • Hillary Millar • Bill Speer • Barry Paschal Absent Library Staff • Mary Lin Maner, Library Director • Devin Morris, Regional Admin Coordinator Other • Allison Couch, District 4 Commissioner • Glenn Kennedy, Deputy County Manager • John Luton, Director, Community Services Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 11:32 am. Approval of Agenda April 2024 agenda was approved with modifications. Approval of Minutes April 2024 minutes were approved with modifications. Friends of the Libraries • See Friends Treasurer Report. Treasurer Report • See Treasurer Report • Mary Lin requested the board move $20,000 from Unreserved to reserved for the purchase of books. • Barry motioned, Tripp seconded, all voted in favor. County Library Manager Report • Mary Lin provided circulation stats and library updates. Report • May meeting was moved to June due to the budget not being signed by the Governor in time. ---PAGE BREAK--- 2 New Business: Requests for Reconsideration: • Heat Wave by TJ Klune • The Bone Spindle by Leslie Vedder • Meet Cute Diary by Emery Lee Unfinished Business: Requests for Reconsideration: The library staff members’ review of these titles will be completed by 5/17/24. The requesting patron will be informed of the decision of the Library Manager and given the option to appeal to the board at the next regularly scheduled meeting. • The Bare-Naked Book by Kathy Stinson • True You: A Gender Journey by Gwen Agna • A Different Kind of Normal by Abigail Balfe • Heat Wave by TJ Klune These titles are still under review and will be completed in this order: To be reviewed before the June 11 meeting: • Tell Me: What Children Really want to know about Bodies, Sex, and Emotions by Katharina von der Gathen • The Black Flamingo by Dean Alta • First two books in the A Court of Thorn and Roses Series by Sarah J.
