www.cityofcody-wy.gov SIGN CODE The City of Cody adopted a Sign Ordinance (2008-34) which went into effect December 22, 2008. The sign regulations have been incorporated into the municipal code as Section 35-19. The code sets forth the requirements for sign locations, heights, sizes and lighting . These requirements are based on the zon- ing of your business’ property or location as there are four sign districts including one for the Downtown Cody Historic District. Signing is an important aspect of any com- munity. When abused, signing creates a visual blight which detracts from the quality of the environment. When unduly restricted, the lack of signing creates a hardship on merchants who rely on effective signing to identify their establishments. Further, exterior signs affect the economic and aesthetic values and character of the community in that the City is highly depend- ent upon the traveling tourist who seeks out Cody for its character and who spend month with local merchants. Orderly signing also contributes to the pro- tections and promotion of the health, safety and welfare of the traveling public and the citizens of Cody. Contact the Planning and Zoning Depart- ment for more information regarding the sign code.
