Representative Signature City Approved By: Date: City of Cody Open Container Permit Application ---PAGE BREAK--- Open Container Permit Who: Any responsible person or organization is eligible to obtain a permit. Purpose: Authorizes the consumption of alcoholic and malt beverages in or upon public areas for picnics bazaars, fairs, rodeos, special holidays, conventions, tournaments or similar gatherings. – Mentock and Hugh Smith Parks Duration: Each permit is good for one 24-hour day. The day begins and ends at 12:00 am. Fee: $50 per day Limit: No limit Approval: The Governing Body must take action to authorize the issuance of the permit. Process: Most permits will be obtained at the Rec Center. 1. Applicant fills out an Open Container Permit Application and Agenda Request Form. 2. Forward information to Cindy or Sara to place the applicant on the Council Agenda. 2. Once approved, enter the new permit on the existing license holder’s account. 3. Calculate the billing on the permit 4. Post the payment to the permit 5. Print the permit stamp, sign & make a copy of the permit give the original to the applicant 6. File the application and copy of the permit in central files ---PAGE BREAK--- City Ordinance 3-2-8: OPEN CONTAINERS IN PUBLIC STREETS, SCHOOL GROUNDS, PARKS, ETC.: It shall be unlawful for any person to drink, consume, carry, exhibit or have in his possession wines, alcoholic liquors or malt beverages in open or unsealed containers of any type, in or upon the public streets, sidewalks, curbs, alleys, school grounds and parks; provided, however, that the governing body and/or its designee, upon application on a written form provided by the city and upon payment of a ten dollar ($10.00) fee, may grant a permit authorizing use and consumption contrary to the foregoing for picnics, bazaars, fairs, rodeos, special holidays, conventions, tournaments or similar gatherings.
