Performs as a front desk attendant. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Works under general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor. SUPERVISION EXERCISED None. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Answers requests for information and otherwise relieves officials of clerical work and secondary administrative and business details. Receives callers at establishment, determines nature of business, and directs callers to destination or proper personnel. Greets visitors, ascertains nature of business and directs visitors to appropriate person or location. Receives complaints and provides necessary information to answer the complaint or directs complainant to the proper person; performs “floor monitor” duties as needed to manage patron/youth non-supervised activities and behaviors. Answers telephone and provides information to callers or routes to appropriate employee. Places outgoing calls as needed. Operates personal computer and various software applications; types and/or composes memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents; tracks program activities, prepares various reports. Creates and issues recreation membership cards and member profiles as necessary. Registers public for recreation programs and events. Operates recreation registration software system and trains employees on usage of software. Accepts payments for facility use and memberships, makes proper change, issues receipts; troubleshoots balancing problems, software problems and other related problems at the recreation center; performs various specific duties as needed, i.e., sets up park rentals, private locker rentals, replaces locker keys, etc. Schedules and tracks events for facility. Prints rosters and class lists for scheduled activities and deliver them to appropriate recreation staff. May serve as a back-up or provide assistance to other divisions and may serve as a back-up instructor for recreational programs. ---PAGE BREAK--- Makes future appointments and answers inquiries. Collects money, distributes correct change and balances cash drawers at end of day. Operates office machines such as computer, fax, typewriter, adding and duplicating machines. Performs related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Education and Experience: A. Graduation from high school or G.E.D.; AND B. One year of experience performing above or related duties; cash handling and customer service experience required. OR C. An equivalent combination of education and experience. 2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Some knowledge of basic customer relations methods; generally accepted business telephone etiquette, general office maintenance and practices; basic recordkeeping; personal computer functions and various software applications, i.e., MS Word, Excel, etc.; interpersonal communication skills; public relations. Skill in the computer operation, cash register, executing money transactions and making change. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine correspondence; speak effectively with customers or employees of the organization; communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally by telephone or in person; apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; deal with problems involving several variables and while performing a variety of unrelated tasks; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. 3. Special Qualifications: Must possess and maintain a valid Wyoming Class C Driver’s License. Must be or become certified in CPR and First Aid within three months of employment. Must work shift work including a variety of evenings, weekends and holidays. 4. Work Environment: Tasks require a variety of physical activities not generally involving muscular strain. Physical demands may occur in activities related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting, etc. Talking, hearing and seeing required in the daily performance of job duties. Worker must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasional exposure to environmental hazards and outside weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. Mental application utilizes memory for details, emotional stability and discriminating thinking and creative problem solving. Periodic travel required in course of performing portions of job functions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with exposure to office equipment.
