Project Blue Light Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police Every day, law enforcement officers show up to work and put their lives on the line for us— and not all of them always get to go home. July 28, 2011, Deputy Bryan Gross died rescuing a 14-year-old girl from the North Platte River. Deputy Gross stripped off his gear and dove into the river without hesitation. Bystanders saw the 29-year-old deputy throw the girl toward the riverbank where she was later rescued Deputy Gross, however, was swept away. This is just one of thousands of heroic acts that law enforcement makes daily. It is through his sacrifice and the sacrifice of law enforcement throughout this nation that we ask that you participate in Project Blue Light. Project Blue Light is a nationwide recognition of those law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty or continue to serve their communities. By changing a regular porch light bulb to a blue one, residents can join their community and those communities across the State of Wyoming in showing their appreciation for their public safety officers. Through donations made by the Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police, Menards of Casper, and the Bryan Gross Memorial Foundation, these organizations would like to encourage Wyoming residents to show their support for their local law enforcement by participating in Project Blue Light at no cost. Let us show our Wyoming pride and support for those who keep us safe and answer the 911 call when we make it! Dwane J. Pacheco President Local police departments and sheriff’s offices are offering a limited number of light bulbs to residents who want to show their support. Contact your local law enforcement office to find out where you can pick up your light bulb while supplies last. One light bulb per residence.
