Never place loose sharps in the gar- bage. Never flush used needles down the toilet. ---PAGE BREAK--- 4. Park County Landfill Collection Site Park County Regional Landfill accepts sharps on the 1st and 3rd Thursday each month free of charge. Place needles in approved or home containers and deliver to the landfill for proper disposal. Park County Regional Landfill 7753 Hwy 120 Cody, WY (307) 587-2443 Monday - Saturday, 7:00 am - 5:00pm Loads will be accepted until 4:30pm. WHY are used needles dangerous? They can: Injure people Spread germs Spread diseases such as HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, tetanus & syphilis WHO is at risk? Sanitation collection workers Recycling center workers Landfill attendants Janitors Housekeepers Children Neighbors Pets YOU! WHAT can we do? 1. Mail-back Programs Mail-back disposal con- tainers may be pur- chased at a local phar- macy. Once full, the containers can be mailed to licensed disposal facilities. 2. Needle Destruction Devices Devices are available for home use that bend, break, incinerate or shear nee- dles. Once destroyed, the remains can be safely disposed of in the garbage. 3. Home Containers Place needles in an empty laundry de- tergent bottle with a screw-on lid. Label container “Do Not Recycle” Put sharps in point-first. Do not fill more than half-full. Deliver to proper dis- posal site.
