After School Activities Program Philosophy We believe children are unique & significant human beings who should be nurtured in a warm & productive environment. It is our goal to provide a diverse, mutually respectful community. Every day we will encourage our students to grow through their own curiosity, experience & learning. Located in The Paul Stock Aquatic & Recreation Center ---PAGE BREAK--- OUR HOME COURT ADVANTAGE SAFETY Safety is our #1 rule! Physically, we will stay within sight of a teacher at all times. We will be safe when playing together by keeping our hands to ourselves & while using supplies. Cell phone usage is limited to the camp phones for emergencies only & with staff help. Emotionally, we also will be safe with each other’s feelings, beliefs & ideas. BELONGING “By building relations we create a source of love & per- sonal pride & belonging that makes living in a chaotic world easier.” Susan Lieber- man Physically, we will make space for everyone, especially on the HCA rug at group times, & everyone is included in our activities & games. Everyone gets to play! Emotionally, we will be sure that everyone feels they belong in our community. Remember, everyone is welcome! VALUE “Your ordinary acts of love & hope point to the extraor- dinary promise that every human life is of inestimable value.” Desmond Tutu Physically, we will value each other’s property & possessions. This includes students & staff. We also value our space at the Rec Center & take care of these areas & supplies. We will also show courage in making choic- es that are right, based on our beliefs, not those of others. What is a Home Court Advantage: “You enter the basketball court & all you see are fans. Fans, fans, fans. Faces painted, team colors abound, school fight songs resonating . . . And you know you’re home. Home Court traditions give a team that competitive edge. They can extend a team of 5 into a team of 20,005. They are the core of every team’s success, each unique in its own right.” ESPN.com The ASAP Beyond program is open on No School Days excluding City Holidays!
