Box 2200 Cody, Wyoming 82414 (307) 527-7511 FAX (307) 527-6532 CITIZENS WANTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CITY OF CODY’S 2nd CITIZEN ACADEMY City of Cody Citizen Academy Coordinators are currently seeking people interested in participating in the 2nd City of Cody’s Citizen Academy. The academy has three main goals: 1. To afford participants the opportunity to experience the “inner‐ workings” of City departments. 2. To better understand City management, operations and procedures. Participants have the chance to meet City employees thereby strengthening community interaction and involvement. 3. The academy provides City departments the opportunity to learn from participants. Academy participants will interact with employees in City Government Administration, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Electric, Water, Waste Water and Police departments. Sessions will run on Wednesdays from 6:00– 8:00 PM, beginning on September 13, 2017. Meals will be provided for classes. The curriculum is being freshened now. We are exploring interesting exercises and topics that participants will learn. Potential sessions include City customer service responsibilities, City finances, parks and recreation activities, building security searches, crime scene investigations, firearms handling, utility bucket truck, trencher, City Council proceedings, legal, and the City budget process. There is no cost to participate. Sessions are taught by City employees. Applicants are screened by the academy coordinators to ensure attendance by a cross‐section of the community. We are seeking academy participants of all ages, and that are from all walks of life – retirees, laborers, business owners and administrative professionals. If you are interested in participating in this unique activity based learning opportunity, applications/nominations are currently being accepted.
