City of Cody Work Exempt from Permits • One story detached accessory buildings used as tool and storage sheds, playhouses and similar uses, provided the floor area does not exceed 120 square feet and there are no electrical services provided to the building. The structure must be installed according to Planning and Zoning regulations. • Painting, papering, flooring, cabinets, trim and similar finish work • Decks, patios, and platforms not more than 120sq.ft or 30 inches above grade and not over any basement or story below. Detached or attached to residence. (Any deck supporting walls or roofs DO require permits). This exemption does not apply to patio and deck covers, gazebos, pergolas or other like structures. • Retaining walls that are not over 4 feet in height measured from the bottom of the footing to the top of the wall, unless supporting a surcharge of 4 foot or located within a public easement or right of way. Retaining walls within public easements and rights of way shall further require approval from the Cody City Council.”. • Concrete walks and concrete driveways not in the City of Cody’s Street right- of-way or not a public sidewalk, and do not provide for building accessibility access. • Concrete patios that do not support structures of any kind and or are not provided for a commercial building eating, sitting, performance or other similar area. • Window awnings supported by an exterior wall (Residential construction only) and private playground equipment.
