Position Summary This position is responsible for providing direction in the acquisition of rights- of-way, easements and parcels of land necessary for the construction and maintenance of county roads, bridges, drainage facilities, and other capital improvement projects. Requires any combination of education knowledge and training; associated with relevant work experience; in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Major Duties • Meets with the public concerning rights-of-way easements and drainage issues. • Prepares and executes right-of-way deeds, easements and quit claim deeds. • Performs independent legal research on rights–of-way, easements and drainage. • Coordinates rights-of-way acquisitions with property owners, county attorney, Board of Commissioners, and state Department of Transportation. • Operates surveying instruments and levels. • Reads and interpret construction, drawings, rights-of-way surveys, and plat drawings. • Oversees the construction and inspection of drainage projects and structures. • Manages the permit process for wetlands, erosion and sediment control plans in connection with drainage plans. • Inspects installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment control plans in new subdivisions. • Coordinates rights-of-way issues and necessary documents with the Georgia Department of Transportation. • Executes and transfers necessary documents using the computer. • Performs other related duties as assigned.
