MOBILE HOMES Every mobile home or manufactured home located in Georgia on January 1 is subject to property taxation. All mobile homes or manufactured homes located in Camden County are required to have a location permit issued by the Tax Commissioner’s Office. The location permit must be applied for within 30 days of permanent placement of the home in the county, and annually thereafter. Once the home has been issued a location permit you will receive a notice each year to renew between January 1 and May 1. Homestead Exemption: Mobile home owners that qualify for homestead exemption must obtain a mobile home location permit on or before May 1 from the county tax collector in the county where the owner lives. For questions concerning the qualifications for homestead contact the Tax Assessors Office at (912) 576-3419. Display of Mobile Home Permit: The permit must be prominently attached and displayed on the mobile home. Failure to display a decal required in code section 48-5-492 can result in minimum fine of $25, maximum of $200. Mobile Home Tax Return: The mobile home must be returned for taxation and the taxes paid at the time of application for the mobile home permit, or at the time of the first sale or transfer of the mobile home after December 31, or on May 1, whichever occurs first. O.C.G.A. 48-5-490. – 48-5-495 Transfer of Ownership: All mobile homes 1963 and newer require a title to transfer ownership. Before a Georgia Title can be applied for and issued you must have a current paid tax receipt from the county in which the mobile home is located. Valuation: The valuation of the mobile home is set by the County Board of Assessors. For information regarding the value of your mobile home contact County Board of Assessors at (912)-576-3419.
