MEETING, TOWN BOARD OF GENOA September 13, 2017 A regular meeting of the Town Board of Genoa, Cayuga County, State of New York was held at the Town Hall, 1000 Bartnick Road, Genoa NY on September 13, 2017 Present Lorie Sellen-Gross, Supervisor Paul Wheeler Cheryl Shields, Board Member Brenda Powers Don Slocum, Board Member Ron Powers Brandon White, Board Member Maureen McNamara Al Board Member Will Wasleff Sue Moss, Clerk The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Supervisor Lorie Sellen-Gross with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Maureen McNamara attended the meeting to introduce herself as the liaison for the Honoco Road Association. She shared a welcome letter given to new Honoco Road property owners explaining the purpose of the Association and what projects they undertake throughout the year. Brenda and Ron Powers attended the meeting to express their concerns regarding a letter, received by Will Wasleff, from the attorney representing Sandy and Jim Strehle. RESOLUTION 86-2017 APPROVAL OF August 9, 2017 MINUTES On a motion of Board member Shields, seconded by Board member White, the following resolution was ADOPTED Ayes 4 Sellen-Gross, Slocum, Shields, White Nays 0 Abstain 1 Resolved that the August 9 minutes be approved. Our chip sealing was done on Weeks, Pine Hollow, Dean, Shingle Valley, Indian Field (from Blakley Road south to County Line Hill), Bruton, Bartnick north, Mahaney (from Center Road north to Genoa-Venice Townline), Atwater (from Lake Road to the lake), Brooks and Middlecott Roads. Just over ten miles were treated. Ditching and flood damage on Shingle Valley and Creek Road (Pete Austin) has been completed. Matt and Bob have started mowing road shoulders and ditches. The guys are starting to haul stone for next year's road work. We had an eight-inch water line rupture on Route 90 just west of Route 34B (in front of the King Ferry Hotel). WATER Sue Moss 3,223,500 - total 103,984 - average WATER COMMITTEE There has been no word on the Town's grant application. PROGRAMS & GRANTS Lorie Sellen-Gross The Merry-Go-Round Theatre’s performance in King Ferry was attended by 40 people. RESOLUTION 89-2017 APPROVAL OF BILLS On a motion of Board member Shields, seconded by Board member the following resolution was ADOPTED Ayes 5 Sellen-Gross, Slocum, Shields, White Nays 0 Resolved to accept the bills as presented OLD BUSINESS Genoa Historical Association had an HVAC system installed. The final cost was $19,160. The Town paid $10,000 of this and a $5475 awarded grant was applied to the bill. The Board discussed if the Town should pay the remaining $3685. The Civil Service Commission has stated that seasonal employees will need to be rehired each year. Frank Sellen will remain as a substitute filling in when someone is on vacation, medical leave, etc. NEW BUSINESS The final equalization rate for the Town is 100%. Lorie received a letter from Jim and Sandy Strehle's counsel dated August 9. ---PAGE BREAK--- TOWN BOARD MEETING September 13, 2017 Page 4 The Highway dept. is helping to clear out downed trees and shrub from the Wilcox Cemetery. They have also agreed to help remove a tree (once it has been cut down) from the Genoa Rural Cemetery. Paul and Bob have been researching the purchase of a new truck for the Water Department. Joe Redder shared with Lorie a letter from Pamela Helming with regard to road repairs. The Board discussed conducting a dog enumeration in the near future. Don told the Board he had received a call from Landmark Dividend - a company that buys up leases. The Board isn't interested. Al will pick up the contract renewal from AmeriGas. The Board reviewed the tentative 2018 budget. With no further business, on a motion of Board member Shields, seconded by Board member the meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m. Carried unanimously.
