Water District Meters Unless provided otherwise pursuant to Section 26 of Local Law #1 of 1972, municipal water services to all properties within the District shall be metered. Only water meters provided by the Board of Water Supply shall be used. Only persons employed by the Water District, or specifically authorized in writing by the Board of Water Supply, may install, service, adjust, repair or otherwise maintain a water meter. The cost of the meter itself and of any repair, maintenance or replacement of the meter due to neglect or irresponsibility by the property owner/user will be added to the quarterly water bill if deemed responsibility by the Water Operator / Town Board. Once a water meter has been installed on a service line, that meter becomes a fixture of the real property, and shall be transferred to any subsequent owners as part of the real property. Fees for Water Service An ON/OFF service visit should be $5 per call. A Typical Residential Water Hookup / Installation will be $220. A Typical Residential Water Hookup / Installation PLUS additional pipeline attachments and work necessary to locate a ¾” hookup on the water main will be $500. A larger, 1” Water Hookup / Installation [if approved] will be $600. If a pre-formed Concrete Pit is necessary, it must meet water service requirements and will be an additional customer expense, determined at the time of hookup. [Pits are required if pipeline is 100 ft. beyond water mainline.] If a Road Crossing Installation or other labor/site work is necessary, it may also be an additional customer expense determined at the time of hookup. The cost of the ¾” copper or comparable polyvinyl pipe necessary to the residence from the water mainline will be a customer expense.
