MEETING TOWN BOARD OF GENOA May 10, 2017 A regular meeting of the Town Board of Genoa, Cayuga County, State of New York was held at the Town Hall, 1000 Bartnick Road, Genoa NY on May 10, 2017 Present Lorie Sellen-Gross, Supervisor Paul Wheeler Cheryl Shields, Board Member Mick Piechuta Don Slocum, Board Member Bob Hunt Brandon White, Board Member Al Board Member Sue Moss, Clerk RESOLUTION 47-2017 APPROVAL OF APRIL 12 MINUTES On a motion of Board member White, seconded by Board member Shields, the following resolution was ADOPTED Ayes 5 Sellen-Gross, Slocum, Shields, White Nays 0 Resolved that the April 12 minutes be approved. SUPERVISOR’S REPORT Lorie Sellen-Gross RESOLUTION 48-2017 APPROVAL OF APRIL 30 SUPERVISOR'S REPORT On a motion of Board member White, seconded by Board member Slocum, the following resolution was ADOPTED Ayes 5 Sellen-Gross, Shields, Slocum, White Nays 0 Resolved that the April 30 Supervisor's Report be approved. HIGHWAY REPORT Brandon White The force feed loader that the towns of Niles, Moravia, Locke, Genoa and Venice rented worked very well. Each town used it for approximately 40 hours. All of the towns worked together sharing trucks, equipment and man power. Eric and Paul spent the week of April 17-21 taking the Grade C water certification course. Both of us completed and passed. We will be taking the Grade D course at a later date. Heavy rains the third week of April did a lot of damage to the culvert on Powers Road. The men did an excellent job repairing it. We have been hauling crusher run stone and patching some pot holes. Paul informed the Board that the town received money from the CHIPS program for $123,000; PAVE-NY for $23,600 and Extreme Winter Recovery for $20,000. Don told Paul that he had received good reports from residents regarding the force feed loader project. ---PAGE BREAK--- TOWN BOARD MEETING May 10, 2017 Page 2 CLERK’S REPORT Report on Revenues from Clerk’s Office for April 2017 Certified Copies $ 70.00 Dog Licenses 136.00 ($153.00 total - $17.00 Ag & Mkts population control fund) Building Permits 395.00 Disbursements for April Paid to Supervisor $ 601.00 Paid to NYS Ag & Markets 17.00 RESOLUTION 49-2017 CLERK’S REPORT On a motion of Board member Shields, seconded by Board member White, the following resolution was ADOPTED Ayes 5 Sellen-Gross, Shields, Slocum, White Nays 0 Resolved that the April 2017 Clerk’s Report be approved ASSESSOR Lorie Sellen-Gross Tentative Assessment: The roll book is available in the Town Hall and the electronic version is available at the Cayuga County Real Property Web site. I will be at the office sitting with the Rolls to discuss assessment and exemption questions or concerns. I will also be scheduling site visits as needed prior to BAR. BAR will be held Tuesday May 30th 4-8 pm. Final Assessment Roll will be available July 1st . WATER Sue Moss Total for April - 2,4210,000 Average - 80,700 The Water Committee has met a couple of times with Tim Steed. Tim is waiting to hear from the town attorney with regard to the grant applications the town wishes to submit. PROGRAMS AND GRANTS Lorie Sellen-Gross Kathy Murray has been hired as the summer swim program director and she has hired her staff. RESOLUTION 50-2017 APPROVAL OF BILLS On a motion of Board member Shields, seconded by Board member Slocum, the following resolution was ADOPTED Ayes 5 Sellen-Gross, Shields, Slocum, White Nays 0 Resolved to accept the bills as presented OLD BUSINESS The Clerk will be sending the Certificate and Oath of Town Clerk to the NYS Comptroller regarding Resolution 40-2017 There will be a public hearing regarding the Zito Agreement at the town hall on May 31 at 6 pm NEW BUSINESS Lorie received notice concerning Census 2020. It is voluntary and town officials are asked to send them a list of all residents and their street address. The Board discussed the Countywide Shared Services Initiative proposed by Gov. Cuomo. There will be informational meetings held but all are held during the day. No literature, webinars or evening meetings will be offered. Keith Batman will be holding a meeting for CC Town Supervisors. Lorie received a quarterly sales tax check for $175,000. The Highway budget was given $100,000 and the remainder to the General Fund.
