Town of Venice Board Meeting February 8th, 2018 The regular scheduled board meeting was called to order on February 8th, 2018, at 7:00 pm by Deputy Town Supervisor, Rodney Donald. All stood for the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call found the following present: Councilmen, Stefan McGonagle; Stephen Talcott; Rodney Donald; Highway Superintendent, Stephen Fredrizzi & Town Clerk, Kim Franklin Absent: Supervisor John Grover & Councilmen Brian Sheils Resolution 6-2018 ~ Approval of Minutes: Motion made by Councilman Talcott and seconded by Councilman McGonagle to approve the minutes from January 11th, 2018 with 2 corrections as agreed upon. Voted: All in favor Report(s) of Town Officials: Code Officer’s Report: Town Board continues to table the decision on using the new Unified Solar Permit, pending the Code Officer’s return to work and an update of his discussion with the Town Attorney regarding same. Clerks report: 8 dog licenses & 1 building permit with receipts of $175.00 paid to the supervisor & $10.00 paid to Ag & Markets for a total distribution of $185.00 through January 31st, 2018. Justice report: shows 7 tickets with $651.00 in fines for January and she submitted check to supervisor; she noted her computer was down for 3 weeks in January so wasn’t able to hold court. Assessor’s: report copied to each board members & she’s requesting the board vote on New Cold War Law Public Hearing. Resolution 7-2018 ~ Adoption of Local Law No. 1-2018 Cold War Tax Exemption: Motion made by Councilman Talcott, seconded by Councilman McGonagle after due deliberations to call for a public hearing to be held at the March 8th, 2018 Board Meeting. Voted: All in favor Highway Superintendent: reports he purchased fuel on state bid for $2.3657 per gallon; salt shed is still about half full; he feels the Town needs to replace 2 sanders (16 years old) before next winter, approximate steel price $6443.00 each and he’ll get stainless price and lastly, he’d like to upgrade #6 truck to Rexroth Auto-sander, approximately $4465.00, before next winter ~ he believes this is a lot more efficient. The Supervisor’s: report was reviewed and approved by board members, and he reports the Town received a NYS Unemployment claim on past part-time highway worker, Dakota Potter, for $6.77 week. Resolution 8-2018 ~ Audit of Claims: Motion made by Councilman Talcott, seconded by Councilman McGonagle to accept Audited Abstract General voucher #029 – 063 in the amount of $54,103.01; Highway voucher #017 - 031 in the amount of $24,968.95 & Poplar Ridge Light at $28.59. Voted: All in favor Resolved that the bills of the evening were presented, reviewed & approved. Councilman McGonagle reports the SVL Fire District held an audit review work session on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Scipio Fire Hall which he & Councilman Donald attended. No list of assets by fire departments, going to try and ask for who owns what and will look for guidance on how to assign ownership on items that cannot be determined. Next meeting at Long Hill Fire Department Tuesday, February 13th. As requested, the Town Clerk provided copies of related documents found at the Cayuga County County Clerk and Historian’s Offices. Councilman Talcott moved to adjourn and meet again on February 8th, 2018, at 7:00 pm at 2479 State Route 34 in Venice Center and seconded by Councilman McGonagle.
