May 2014 Emerson Park Fast Facts Short Timeline: 1899 “Island Park” established by Michael Carmody on Deauville Island. 1891 “Lakeside Park” established by Auburn City Railway Company on the east side of the Owasco outlet channel across from Island Park 1930 Fred Light Emerson purchases Lakeside Park and renames it “Enna Jennick Park” after the popular Enna Jennick line of shoes that he created with Auburn-based shoe manufacturer Dunn & McCarthy. 1944 F.L. Emerson donates Enna Jennick Park to Cayuga County, which establishes “Emerson Park” as a county park. 1967 Cayuga County acquires Deauville Island and adds it to Emerson Park.
