TOWN OF GENOA, CAYUGA COUNTY, NEW YORK LOCAL LAW NUMBER #3 OF 2014 TO CREATE A LOCAL LAW TO ESTABLISH A CONSTABULARY Be it enacted by the Town of Genoa as follows: SECTION 1. TITLE. This Local Law shall be referred to as “Local Law #3 of 2014” SECTION 2. PURPOSE AND INTENT. By the enactment of Local Law #3 of 2014, the Town of Genoa has official authority to establish a Constabulary. This constabulary’s title is Court Security Officer. SECTION 3. DUTIES OF THIS OFFICER DURING COURT SESSIONS: • Operate magnetometer prior to people entering the court room • Escort Judge, jury and witness(es) to and from the courtroom during a jury trial • Protect and guard public, Judge, and employees in the court • Check to ensure identification is in order when necessary • Provide general information to visitors on premise • Prepare incident reports when necessary • Provide assistance in emergency situations • Physically restrain unruly individuals if needed • Other duties as assigned by presiding Judge SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE: This Local Law shall take effective immediately upon filing with the New York Department of State
