MEETING, TOWN BOARD OF GENOA June 8, 2016 A Regular meeting of the Town Board of Genoa, Cayuga County, State of New York was held at the Town Hall, 1000 Bartnick Road, Genoa NY on June 8, 2016 Present Lorie Sellen-Gross, Supervisor Mick Piechuta Cheryl Shields, Board Member Ed Sharpsteen Don Slocum, Board Member Paul Wheeler Brandon White, Board Member Steve Fedrizzi Al Board Member (absent) Heather Garner The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by Supervisor Lorie Sellen-Gross with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Mr. Sharpsteen asked the Board if they would consider donating money to the Sharpsteen Cemetery so that an American flag and pole could be purchased. Lorie told him that the Board would look over the budget and if there was money available, they would be happy to donate for the flag and pole. The minutes for the May 11 meeting were approved via email. The milk house drain was not working on Clearview Road by Rick May’s dairy barn. We finished hauling stone from Seneca Stone with some help from the Town of Venice. Frank completed safety policies for: 1. Excavation & Trenching 2. Chainsaw safety & personal protective equipment 3. Wood chipper and & shredder safety These were requirements for Comp Alliance. Mark and I attended New York Rural Water Association conference; it was very interesting and informative for me. We used the grader on Lane Road to reshape the shoulders of the road; the grader seems to be working fine since being repaired at Ragusa’s. June 9 is the tentative date to begin paving on Lane Road - weather permitting. Jeff has started mowing road sides. Mark and Eric have been filling potholes again. WATER April May 2,311,200 - total 2,749,200 - total 77,000 - average 88,600 - average WATER COMMITTEE Mick Piechuta Mick talked with Tim Steed earlier in the day. Tim will have a final draft to the Board in the very near future. The next step will be to hold a Public Hearing. PROGRAMS & GRANTS Lorie Sellen-Gross The Merry-Go-Round Theater will perform one free performance for the Town and the Town will pay for the second one. The schedule is July 19th at 2 pm at the King Ferry Presbyterian Church and again on July 28 at 12:15 pm at the United Church of Genoa. “The Tortoise vs. Hare: Rematch!” will be performed. It is free and open to the public. RESOLUTION 49-2016 APPROVAL OF THE 2016 SWIM PROGRAM INSTRUCTORS On a motion of Board member Slocum, seconded by Board member Shields, the following resolution was ADOPTED Ayes 4 Sellen-Gross, Slocum, White, Shields Nays 0 Resolved to approve the 2016 swim program instructors Lorie received a letter from NYS stating that the equalization rate for the town is 100% ---PAGE BREAK--- TOWN BOARD MEETING June 8, 2016 Page 4 RESOLUTION 50-2016 APPROVAL OF BILLS On a motion of Board member Shields, seconded by Board member Slocum, the following resolution was ADOPTED Ayes 4 Sellen-Gross, Slocum, White, Shields Nays 0 Resolved to accept the bills as presented OLD BUSINESS The Board agreed to send a $200 donation to Mercy Flight Central. NEW BUSINESS There is a fundraiser scheduled for June 25 - Heart Health Bike Ride. They have requested to have the Town Hall open from 9 to 10 that morning so that participants may use the restrooms. Lorie and representatives from surrounding towns are meeting with Clarity Connect on June 20 at 6 pm here at the Town Hall. She asked that other Board members attend as well. Shannon representing the Genoa Historical Association, has asked if the Town would provide funds so that t-shirts can be purchased for volunteers working at the Wheat Harvest Festival in August. The Board has agreed. Lorie received a letter informing her that the insurance premium rate may be raised by 15%. At this time, (7:40 pm) the Board went into Executive Session to discuss a personnel matter.
