TOWN OF NILES PLANNING BOARD Niles Town Hall, New Hope, New York September 21, 2017 MEMBERS PRESENT: Terry Green, Chairwoman D’Allah Laffoon Bob DeWitt Nate Hatfield Sara Finizo, Secretary ABSENT: Bill Stinson (Representing the Planning Board at a meeting titled “Leasing Land for Renewable Energy”) OTHERS PRESENT: Bernie Juli The meeting was called to order at 7:31PM. Ms. Green asked everyone to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. Sara Finizio read the August 2017 minutes. Mr. Hatfield made a motion to accept the minutes as read and Mr. Laffoon seconded the motion. All approved. NEW BUSINESS: N/A OTHER DISCUSSION: Mr. Hatfield gave an overview of the training session he attended on August 24, 2017 at Cayuga- Onondaga BOCES titled “National Resource Protection – A Regulatory Overlook”. Ms. Green announced that the Town of Niles’ new budget plan is up for review and she is working on assessing the needs for the Planning Board. Bernie Juli, Town Board member, attended the meeting to discuss the future construction of a Fire House on New Hope Road for the New Hope Fire Department. Mr. Juli stated that Jerry VeVone, Town of Niles Code Enforcement Officer, has determined that a structural engineer will be needed. Ms. Green reviewed a list of all requirements that will be needed for the New Hope Fire Department to continue with further plans for construction. Ms. Green will provide Mr. Juli with a copy of the list. Ms. Green recommended to Mr. Juli that the Town Board form a committee to review the impact of Commercial Solar Farms on the community. Mr. Juli stated that the Town of Niles Town Board is looking into changing the permit laws. The next meeting is scheduled for October 19, 2017 at 7:30PM. ---PAGE BREAK--- A motion was made by Mr. DeWitt and seconded by Mr. Laffoon to adjourn the meeting at 8:17PM. All approved.
