MEETING, TOWN OF GENOA August 26, 2015 A meeting to discuss the Genoa-King Ferry Water District Project was held at the Town Hall, 1000 Bartnick Road, Genoa NY on August 26, 2015 Present Lorie Sellen-Gross, Supervisor Mick Piechuta Cheryl Shields, Board Member Mark Conner Don Slocum, Board Member Tom Hamilton Brandon White, Board Member Lorin Correll Al Board Member Michelle Baines Sue Moss, Clerk Roger Conner The meeting began at 6:30 p.m. with the introduction of Michelle Baines from the Cayuga County Sewer and Water Authority. She began with a history of the Authority (formed by an act of the State Legislature twenty years ago). The three proposed projects for the water district are: combine contract users into the Water District, a total rehab of the pump house and securing a second water source. Mark had been asked to submit a wish list at the meeting. He handed it out to everyone in attendance. The water line has been in existence since 1967 and the pump house and water lines are the number one priority. It was figured that there are approximately eight miles of pipe that carry water to customers. Cheryl suggested that perhaps a whole new system is needed. Michelle stated that any funding agency will look at the affordability of these projects and will compare it to similar towns. She suggested costing out the whole line. The average water bill in the State is $862 per year. With regard to income from the water district, it has been suggested that water line customers be charged by EDU (equivalent dwelling unit). Residences would be one unit and perhaps commercial sites would be 1.5 or 2. To begin this process, consultants/engineers are needed. A request for qualifications and rates would be sent out to area consultants/engineers. After this list has been narrowed down to 3-5, more details would be sent to them. Mick will continue with getting the ball rolling - the town board agreed. After the water district project discussion concluded, the Board discussed the Cell Tower agreement once again. Matt Rejman has resigned from his position with the Town Highway Department. Lorie will be speaking with Frank to see how he wants to handle a replacement. The meeting ended at 8:30 p.m. Susan B. Moss, Town Clerk
