TOWN OF IRA Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM At the Ira Town Barn, Corner of Bradt Road and Ira Station Road Summer hours will be determined at a later date RESIDENTS OF THE TOWN OF IRA ONLY must purchase a valid permit from the Town Clerk to bring no more than 6 bags/trash cans (33 gallon size) of solid waste to the transfer station at the rear of the Town of Ira Barn per week. There will be roll offs available for large objects, steel and recycles. Residents are encouraged to RECYCLE. The numbered permit must be displayed on the driver’s side windshield and visible to the attendant. If you have questions or need help ask the attendant. Do not use your vehicles and permit to bring someone else’s trash to the Town of Ira. Everyone in the Town of Ira needs to cooperate and follow the rules for the transfer station. Do not bring trash from any construction business. This service is a privilege and if misused fees go up for everyone. 1. The load must be covered to comply with NYSDEC Law. You May be turned away at the transfer station if load is uncovered. Repeat offenses will result in a revoked permit. 2. Daily household waste in a plastic bag or trash cans as well as recyclables. 3. Hazardous household waste and paint will not be accepted. However dry paint containers with the top removed will be accepted. 4. Construction and demolition debris shall be limited to small quantities – not pickup loads or part of a house or building. Lumber shall not exceed 5-foot 5. Yard waste will not be accepted since it is compostable. THE LANDFILL WILL NOT ACCEPT YARD WASTE. 6. Large items such as appliances and furniture will be accepted between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM only. There is a limit of ONE large item per week per residence. 7. Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners or anything with Freon will NO longer be accepted with or without Freon. 8. Florescent light bulbs, car batteries, lithium batteries are now considered hazardous waste and will no longer be accepted. ---PAGE BREAK--- 9. There will be tire round up once a year (to be announced). Tires will not be accepted at any other time. 10. If you have lost your permit it will cost full price to replace it. PLEASE DESTROY PERMIT IF YOU MOVE FROM THE TOWN. TRANSFER STATION – TOWN OF IRA CORNER OF BRADT ROAD AND IRA STATION ROAD DUMP HOURS 8:00 AM – 3: 00 PM ON EVERY SATURDAY THROUGH THE YEAR When approaching the transfer station you must enter transfer station off from Bradt Road ONLY. Drive thru to the end of the Highway garage and have your permit checked. Once you have been cleared to dump proceed to the compactor that is going to receive your trash (10 PMH, use caution, 2 lanes only) or as directed by onsite personnel. Exit onto Ira Station Road only. The Town of Ira asks your help (please) in obeying to the rules as spelled out for the transfer station. Remember to have your Permit with you at all times. You must use the vehicle that shows on your permit.
