The property is owned by Cayuga County and maintained by Cayuga Community College. When the College moved to the Franklin St. campus in 1959, the Nature Trail was farmland. In 1978, man-made ponds were added to the trail. Through the years various other enhancements to the trail have taken place, including the 2009 purchase of exercise equipment and benches that were dedicated to the late Ruth Sara Goldman, who was regular fixture of the Nature Trail. The Nature Trail has been described as “a small, natural oasis positioned in the midst of an urban area”. The Cayuga County Health Department worked with the College to provide funding through a state grant titled, “Creating Healthy Places to Live, Work & Play”. The funding provided allowed for additional enhancements to the trail to be made. More benches and signs were placed along the trail and snow shoes are also available for through the College fitness center. to Auburn FRANKLIN ST. PROSPECT ST. BRISTER AVE. BOYLE AVE.
