Minutes for Butte-Silver Bow Non-superfund Health Study Citizens Advisory Group February 15, 2013, 9:00 A.M. -10:00 A.M. 1. Members Present: Merrell Benedict, Steven Coe, Jay Cornish, Helen Joyce, Paul Riley, John Rolich. Members Absent: Dr. Kumar Ganesan 2. Questions and Comments from Greeley Area Citizens Group and from Concerned Citizens. a. Discussed what ways would be the most effective to address the questions and concerns from the Greeley Area Citizens group and the general public concerning the health study. b. Concluded that the best method to address the public comments is through a “Fact Sheet”. The fact sheet will be developed by the advisory group and address the critical information pertaining to the health study. Once the fact sheet has been completed a public meeting will be held to discuss the fact sheet and discuss implementing a work plan for sampling. c. Helen Joyce will be the contact person for public comments. 3. Preliminary Ambient Air Quality Issues, Data, and Sampling in the Health Study a. Discussed what air quality issues need to be address in the initial phase of the health study. The issues that may be addressed are: PM2.5, PM10, silica. Other issues may be added to the initial phase. b. Speciation data will from previous years will be studied by Dr. Ganesan and Steven Coe. c. Reduction of PM 2.5 in the Butte Valley will be under the guidance of the Butte-Silver Bow Air Quality program. d. Dr. Ganesan and Tony Ward will design a sampling study for the summer. 4. Time Line a. Fact sheet to be completed by March 14, 2013 b. Advisory group will meet on March 15, 2013 to review fact sheet. c. Public meeting to be schedule for late March or early April 2013 d. Sampling time frame for July-August 2013
